Even though it’s my expertise to garner exposure for a business via social media marketing, as a business I have to practice what I preach.
For one it gives my clients confidence in my business since I know how to implement social media marketing. Also my business is just another in a deep pool of competition that needs to come out on top – or at least try too.
Facebook is my main tool as when it comes targeting the right audience it can’t be beaten. Adwords is also great at this. The costs involved though (roughly $3 more per click) makes it more viable to go with the cheaper option. The results tend to be the same as well.
Being Cheaper Doesn’t Hurt Your Results
Where I was spending $100 per month on advertising on adwords, I now spend a fraction of that on facebook. I tend to target small business owners who may need a website or SEO (search engine optimization). In my posts I also include a call to action and a brief description about the service I’m targetting. The price is also attractive as well – what business can’t afford 4 cents per click.
I post 5 times a week at a time google analytics says most people search for my business (about 8am). And I focus on the right demographic:
18 – 34 year olds who are small business owners or tradies.
I don’t normally receive direct calls from this. People will often comment on the post and I contact them back.
Twitter is also a tool I use. Not as often though. I post about twice per week at a cost of about 20 dollars – 10 dollars per post. The costs are more, roughly 50 cents per click, but using the same targetting techniques it is worthit.
Let Others Advertise Your Business For Free
I don’t always spend money on facebook and twitter though due to the fact that it cost nothing to post to your own facebook page. I also love retweets and post shares as they push my brand further for nothing. My business page is set up professionally using a template that works best for a business offering different services. I have recently embraced Instagram. It’s mainly used for shopping sites and foodies, but I have found that taking a screen shot of my sites and posting with the right hashtags gets it more exposure.
So in closing when Twitter, Facebook and Instagram are combined they can be a powerful source and have garnered me a few more jobs. But it’s really brand awareness I am after, so every time I appear in someones news feed then I once again enter their awareness.
Thanks to the data google analytics acquires I can make informed decisions about my social media plan.
